Who is JONNO ?

Jonno is a musician living and working in New Orleans.
With Mamou, he played psychedelic rock fiddle and accordion in the only Cajun band ever signed to MCA Records. Jonno has performed as a classical violist at the Kennedy Center and the White House, played folk fiddle with a modern dance company at Lincoln Center and squeezed the Cajun accordion at the Library of Congress. He has been equally at home in honky- tonks, dance halls, or teaching children...

Jonno’s playing has been described as “...amazing, diverse and impressive...” ; his fiddling and accordion work as having “...plenty of reverence to the genre, but (adding) a kickin’ audaciousness...”, and “just the right amount of calculated abandon to make the music unpredictable...”. He “...fiddles like he’s out of his mind, searing runs up and down the instrument’s neck as if possessed...” yet “...makes his fiddle sing like a glorious bluebird...” (see ‘press’)

Jonno has produced CDs that have received praise and awards, and appeared on over twenty recordings. His original songs have been featured in documentaries at the Los Angeles Museum of Art, and adapted to ballet in New Orleans.

RIGHT NOW..., Jonno has released his first solo disc, which features a dynamite studio band and guest appearances by Michael Doucet, Sonny Landreth, Steve Riley and others...
He’s doing gigs with his own band, mostly around New Orleans, while continuing to tour nationally and internationally with Rounder Records recording artists- ‘Charivari’ (see links...)
